My new Sewing Machine!

So for Christmas I asked for a new sewing machine. I have a sewing machine that my mom gave me that is quite a few years old. It worked well for the occasional mending or small project but I really wanted to work on my sewing by trying out new projects for the house & the boys. Now that they are getting older they need capes (you know, little boys running around the house with super hero capes is just cute!) and some new towels (that I can personalize for them)...that sort of stuff. As well as maybe some things for around the house....new pillows, kitchen towels, maybe i'll even take on curtains for our bedroom. Who knows! I am searching books and the internet for ideas of some simple ideas to start with before I take on some huge projects. I am dying to get to the fabric store to find some good deals on fabric! Trying to figure out if I want to attempt that trip with the boys in tow. :) I am also trying to find a good place to set up camp at our house for the sewing machine so that I don't have to transport it around all the time. I am thinking a simple table that can go in the guest room for now but can easily be moved when needed....maybe I need to take a trip to Ikea!
Hopefully I will soon have some photos of my creations to share!

Sarah - I am so jealous! I have never sewed a day in my life - but I want to learn. Below is a blog that always has great homemade items. Just click on the "Tutorial" link at the top and you will find some great stuff.

I have also fallen for the homemade crayon holders - just search in google and you will find a ton of tutorials - these would be great for the boys or also as gifts.
Hope all is well and we get to see you soon! Emily
